Summary:
The Associate Director of Procurement (Research and Development) is responsible for establishing research and development category strategies including but not limited to: Biometrics/Biostatistics, Biometrics/Data Management, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Science, Clinical Supplies, the Development Management Office, Discovery Research, Medical Writing, Pharmacovigilance, Preclinical Development, Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Translational Research that drive value, optimize costs, and ensure high-quality products and services for the research and clinical development categories. This position is responsible for supporting the RFx process, vendor selection, pricing negotiation, key business terms, and contracts, measuring and managing vendor performance from a Procurement perspective, and working closely with clinical research organizations. The ideal candidate must have experience working in a multinational organization, strong communication and business acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and be able to work independently.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and implement category strategies that drive value, optimize costs, and ensure high-quality products and services for the research and clinical development categories.
• Lead cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and communicate category strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
• Work with internal stakeholders to develop and execute procurement plans that meet the needs of the research and clinical development categories.
• Provide oversight for the RFx process, vendor selection, negotiation of pricing, key business terms, and contracts.
• Standardization of templates for RFx events. (i.e., creating the starting point RFx templates based on the type of service, phase of the study, etc.).
• Measure and manage vendor performance to ensure quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
• Identify and develop relationships with suppliers that can deliver innovative solutions that meet business needs.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure that suppliers deliver value to the organization.
• Identify and implement process improvements that drive operational efficiency and cost savings.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in the research and clinical development categories
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards
Requirements:
Education
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, data analytics finance, or a science-related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
7+ years of pharmaceutical experience in procurement, or a related role, engaging with pharmaceutical research and clinical development categories. Strong business acumen and strong analytical ability are desirable. Demonstrated experience working with clinical research organizations.
Experience negotiating and managing research and clinical development contracts with Contract Development and Clinical Research Organizations. Experience working in a multinational organization. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and vendors.
Technical Skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
