Associate Director - (On-Site)

Main mission - the disciplines of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). CTED projects comprise all aspects, from architectures to prototypes to implementation, theoretical to hands-on. Our engineers work directly with corporate and U.S. Government customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.
We are seeking to hire a Associate Director to support The Communication Electronics Department (CED). As the Associate Director in CED, you will provide managerial and technical leadership to a staff of engineers and technicians, as well as support a multitude of US government, civil, commercial, and international customers.
*This role will be supported 100% onsite daily in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing
Job Summary:
- Establish the organization's objectives, strategy and goals and communicate them to staff, management, and interfacing matrix organizations.
- Seek and identify opportunities for additional, expanded and new business and assist higher management in the evaluation and pursuit of new opportunities
- Interface with department customers and direct organizational resources to effectively respond to their support requirements
- Assemble and direct teams to analyze, define, and satisfy customer needs from available resources.
- Propose internal research and development efforts
- Maintain and grow department laboratory capabilities
- Hire new staff
- Other managerial duties include staff tasking, staff performance assessment, and development budgeting for capital and overhead
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, related engineering or physics discipline
- Minimum of 8-years of progressively responsible microwave/RF engineering and project experience; 2+ years experience in a supervisory or project leadership role is required
- Knowledgeable technical experience in the following microwave electronics and communication systems areas:
- Microwave engineering theory and design, include some signals analysis
- Microwave measurement instrumentation
- Fabrication of microwave circuits and units
- Demonstrated team leadership, customer responsiveness, creativity in problem-solving and addressing teaming/interpersonal challenges, ability to rapidly grasp new concepts, and excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Willing to travel domestically approx.10 - 15%
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited program in electrical engineering, related engineering or physics discipline
- Over 12 years of experience in Microwave/RF communication systems
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Previous line or team management experience and Aerospace Corp program office experience
- Experience automating test equipment with MATLAB or Python
- Transitioning internal research and design projects to product development
- Technical experience in the following communication systems areas: TWTAs, microwave transmitters and receivers, time-domain measurements
- Proficiency using any microwave simulation programs such as ADS, AWR Microwave Office, HFSS, as well as Matlab or Python

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$110,700 - $159,030 - $207,360
Pay Basis: Annual
