Overview:

The Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) Information Technology (IT) team is actively looking for an experienced techno-functional leader to provide oversight, management and direction to multiple product teams that will be delivering an accelerated digital transformation for diverse business units.

LRL IT team unites science with technology to accelerate Lilly's pipeline and deliver therapeutic innovations. As a member of the LRL IT organization, you will have the opportunity to work in highly technical and fast paced team in a scientifically challenging area responsible for business relationship management and IT solution and service delivery to support an ever-changing research and development environment for LRL Product Development business partners.

What you'll be doing:

This Associate Director position is responsible for engaging Product Research and Development business and technical leaders, scientists, external suppliers and strategic partners to manage the portfolio of applications and development roadmaps.

Key responsibilities include leading and developing a group of dedicated technology professionals and delivering a range of custom solutions and critical platforms; aligning the team to business goals; driving agile transformation; managing solution prioritization, financial management and governance; and advancing information architecture practices.

What you should bring:

  • Manage technical team (develops staffing strategy, performance management, development, recruiting and hiring) and budgets to meet those objectives.
  • Communicate direction by prioritizing work within portfolio of projects and services and reinforce compliance.
  • Direct release schedule for assets, based on business needs and available capacity.
  • Embrace emerging digital technologies and identify opportunities for extending among the team.
  • Adopt and drive agile practices in the pursuit of maximized business value.
  • Understand, anticipate, elicit and influence customer demand for information services.
  • Leverage external resources to increase digital and competitive awareness.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in delivery of solutions.
  • Outline and approve Statements of Work, appropriately engaging Procurement, and other Tech@Lilly organizations.
  • Measure and maximize performance of key suppliers to stated SoWs and verify all contractual obligations are met.

Your basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Sciences, or other technology-related discipline
  • 5+ years in IT-related work, including 3+ years working across multiples phases of the software development lifecycle process, spanning the entire lifecycle from project initiation to deployment, support, and retirement.
  • 2+ years of experience Leading teams that have used Cloud Technologies and/or Microservices to build and deliver enterprise systems.
  • 1+ years of experience leading large scale IT transformation program(s)

Additional preferences:

  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Research and Development processes and platforms.
  • Demonstrated business, scientific, and technical acumen through interactions with key Scientific and IT leadership.
  • Demonstrated delivery of sustainable capabilities and services within the budget, timeline, and scope constraints.
  • Experience in providing technical coaching and feedback to technology professionals.

  • Experience in developing budgets, forecasts, and plans.
  • Experience in vendor management to provide solutions and services.
  • Experience with GXP practices.
