Associate Director, Professional Development and Programs
Job Description

As an Associate Director, Professional Development and Programs supporting US Vison Care (USVC), you will be trusted to partner with Vision Care Professional Education and Development team, Marketing, and Sales leaders to develop and execute an annual health care professional (HCP) advocate plan (including speaker alliance, Healthcare Practitioner visits to Alcon, in-office programs, HCP consultancies, etc.). This Associate Director will be responsible for leading all aspects of our HCP advocate faculty roster, speaker and moderation training, budget maintenance, adherence to all legal and compliance requirements, and building cross-functional teams for strategy, content, and logistics.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Serving as a strategic HCP business partner to USVC stakeholders, responsible for helping the business identify priority HCP messaging and building out annual HCP advocate plan to drive HCP awareness, confidence, and recommendations of our priority contact lens and OTC products
- Developing curriculum and training, focusing on the technical and practice education of professionals that prescribe and recommend Alcon Vision Care products to ensure positive patient and practice outcomes
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the professional programs and the faculty
- Maintaining strong relationships with the faculty and ensuring timely contracts and payment. This includes evaluation of new faculty, periodic assessment and re-evaluation of existing faculty, and gathering feedback on faculty from internal and external stakeholders
- Managing the multi-million-dollar HCP program budget across a variety of event types (congress events, in-office programs, virtual programs, Alcon campus programs, etc.)
- Establishing and tracking Key Performance Indicators to ensure optimization of program and results, continuously improving Return on Investment
- Driving simple and efficient processes, ensuring adherence to Alcon compliance guidelines and US laws related to payments to HCPs
- Working effectively with Field Sales and Strategic Account Sales teams on event scheduling, logistics, and implementation as needed
- Ensuring the faculty is effectively trained on Alcon portfolio, fitting guidelines, clinical data, and effective speaking and moderating techniques
- Coordinating with any internal stakeholders and external third parties required to execute HCP programs
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- 7 Years of Relevant Experience
- 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
Travel Requirement: 30-40% domestic travel
Preferred Experience:
- Vision Care industry experience preferred.
- Strong ability to foster and maintain relationships with health care professionals (HCPs)
- Ability to operate with an enterprise approach and make effective tradeoffs across internal partners to do what's best for the business
- Advanced clinical / technical expertise in area of contact lenses and OTC eye care products
- Strong project management and budget management skills
- Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
- Familiarity with major US vision care customers and key channels
- Outstanding presentation & communication skills
- Ability to effectively build and lead cross-functional teams
