Role Overview 

The Associate Director of Project Management is responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple, large, and complex projects that will require process-oriented thinking, program management and collaboration with multiple agency capabilities as well as the clients. The Associate Director of Project Management will guide large teams in process development, financial management (at a project level) and scoping of work.  This position may manage a small to mid-sized team and is responsible for all aspects of the employee experience including hiring and onboarding, training and development, and workflow and performance management.   

The ideal candidate is a project guru, passionate about delivering complex digital projects to our clients. They are a driven individual with a “get it done” attitude, who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get the project done on budget and on time. Must be happy in a highly team-oriented environment and have a passion for motivating and leading a team. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Manage a high-profile portfolio of work, operationalizing and executing digital experiences. 
  • Coordinate across partner agencies, clients, and vendors to compile & organize documentation and requirements to plan, design, launch and scale digital platforms. 
  • Acts as a strategic leader when working with other partner agencies and clients to drive digital solutions and campaigns on behalf of clients. 
  • Manages and controls scope, with the ability to devise a plan to mitigate scope creep, including reprioritization of work or change orders. Leads internal and client efforts to mitigate scope creep.
  • Leads efforts to identify and act on cost and performance efficiencies across projects to improve margin.
  • Drives the scope drafting completion process, i.e. provide timelines, understand R&R’s, completion dates. 
  • Manages clients at the relationship level vs project level and acts as subject matter expert on key projects, listening for opportunities for cross-selling/up-selling to client.
  • Participates in client meetings and manages in partnership with Account Management as needed.
  • Supports Account Management with client discovery meetings and/or kickoffs as necessary and in partnership with Account Management, manages the flow, tone and tenor of client conference calls.
  • Conducts internal meetings with agendas, goals, objectives, and desired next steps.
  • Partners with other capabilities to define deck outlines and then works collaboratively to write decks for client presentations.
  • Manages resources to meet financial targets and target margins in a way that demonstrates fiscal responsibility. May contribute to resourcing for project teams.
  • May manage junior or mid-level staff including, hiring, and onboarding, training and development, resource planning across the team, performance management and career development.
  • Manages project teams, including providing feedback on work and performance.
  • Demonstrate and exhibit the value of creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. Actively assist and engage in creating and sustaining a workplace that fosters creativity and innovation. 

What You’ll Need 

  • Minimum of 8 years of project management, account, or related experience. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience is required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of client service experience 
  • Experience using task management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
  • Experience using Project Management Software (MS Project, Smartsheet, Trello, Basecamp, etc.).
  • Familiar with Agile and Scrum. 
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS), experience with Learning Experience Platforms (LXP) or Learning Management Systems (LMS) a plus.
  • Familiarity executing project using design systems or similar method of operationalizing execution.
  • Excellent written communication skills, command of grammar and attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and clients in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • The right candidate may be located anywhere in the US but must be willing to work east coast hours. We believe in the power of bringing people together so the right candidate must be willing to travel to the office as needed (at least two times a year) and as needed for clients, pitches, or internal meetings. If the right candidate is local, even better! We encourage staff to work in our Boston office 1-2 times per week.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $107,000 – $140,000 annually, depending on relevant factors including experience, internal equity and market considerations. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.
