Associate Director, Research

The Role 

IEQ Capital is looking for a motivated professional to join as a Research Associate Director focused on Liquid and Alternative Investments. This role will work closely with the Investments team to source/diligence new investments and help lead the research direction of the Investment Committee (IC). The Research Associate Director role is responsible for managing multiple deal team workflows concurrently and reviewing the work of the associate team to produce weekly investment committee materials and quarterly ongoing diligence updates for client materials. The role requires a candidate to be comfortable presenting the risks and potential returns of an investment to the IC, as well as representing the firm in manager meetings and ad-hoc client/prospect meetings. The Research Associate Director will be expected to split his/her focus between: 

• Leading diligence and managing deal teams for new investments in both Liquid and Alternative asset classes. 
• A “deal team” refers to the staffing of a Research Associate, client-facing team member, Research Director, and Partner on a specific investment. 
• Sourcing new investments and maintaining a pipeline of new investment ideas. 
• Sponsor coverage for ongoing due diligence on IEQ’s portfolio of existing investments. 
• Understanding the IEQ value proposition and ability to communicate the IEQ research process. Effective at communicating research’s role in the firm to clients and prospects. 
• Mentoring the younger associate research staff to develop their investing acumen and reviewing their work before distribution to client-facing teams and client base 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree required. 
• 5+ years of relevant work experience required.  
• Understanding of major asset classes and the role they play in an institutional portfolio.  
• Experience with financial modeling and data analysis / visualization in Excel. 
• Experience with Python, SQL, other data visualization or BI tools is a plus. 
• Close attention to detail. 
• Ability to effectively manage others to meet tight deadlines. 
• Be able to perform in an ever-changing high-pressure environment. 
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills. 

Career Path 

You should expect to hold the Research Associate Director position for 3+ years. During that time, you will be evaluated on the impact of your contributions, taking on more responsibilities as you acquire the necessary skills to move on to a more senior role. This role has strong visibility to the Investment Committee, Managing Partners, IEQ clientele, Wall Street, and Private Market sponsors. The research team aims to provide multiple routes to establish a niche for yourself in a growing firm that invests across most institutional asset classes. 

Compensation

The total compensation range for this role, inclusive of base salary and bonus, is $135,000-$175,000, depending on skills and experience.
