About this role
The primary role for this position is to provide engineering leadership and oversight for Sustaining Engineering in Charlotte, North Carolina. The responsibilities include sustaining engineering, engineering to order, design engineering and engineering laboratories. The role will ensure timely product engineering support to the factory, continuous improvements of product quality and costs, and operational excellence in design engineering and labs. A successful Sustaining lead is also expected to have solid communication and leadership skills. The lead works with resource managers and stakeholders to support day-to-day operations in areas of product engineering and to continue driving engineering excellence in design, testing, engineering data, capabilities and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall Sustaining Engineering ownership in sustaining, engineering to order, design engineering and engineering laboratories.
- Work closely with engineering and Ops leaders and stakeholders in ensuring day-to-day design engineering support and in defining the solutions, strategy with priority and defined scopes, and schedules.
- Work closely with engineering leads and colleagues globally in leveraging knowledge, experience, and good practices.
- Ensure on time, on spec and on budget delivery of product improvements in design, quality, efficiency, serviceability and costs.
- Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
- Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements to processes.
- Reviewing codes, specifications, and processes required to comply with regulations and customer needs.
- Manages clear, concise and results oriented communications with diverse stakeholders, employees, customers, and suppliers
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- 8 + years of experience in a design center or a commercial production environment
- 5+ years of experience leading teams

- PhD in Mechanical or Electrical
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- HVAC industry experience preferred
- Product design in a manufacturing environment
