Summary

This individual will play a strategic role in designing and implementing corporate processes to ensure optimal market access, appropriate utilization and reimbursement attainment for Daiichi Sankyo Inc's. portfolio of products.

Responsibilities

  • Establish Daiichi Sankyo. as a preferred research partner for academic thought leaders, co-development/promotion partners and strategic managed markets customers by facilitating the acquisition of corporate expertise in Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR). Conduct training programs on utilizing HEOR for Global Clinical Development and US Commercial organization colleagues. Serve as a core member of cross-functional product commercialization and development teams to ensure the creation and implementation of optimal market access and HEOR strategies and tactics.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of processes to increase research efficiency and dissemination of HEOR messaging in brand promotion and commercial payer education activities. Establish a strong collaboration with external thought leaders to benchmark the success of Daiichi Sankyo against competitive companies HEOR functions in order to ensure "Best in Class" performance. Assist and oversee the development of formulary dossiers, interactive health economic and budget impact modeling tools, journal publications, conference abstracts/posters/slide sets, and direct to consumer and physician campaigns and detail aids.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop Health Economics and Outcomes Research strategies and tactics that support successful commercialization of DSI products. Partner with the Director of Reimbursement and Director of Contracting to contribute Health Economic expertise to the development of strategic pricing and reimbursement strategies and corporate policies. Serve as an advisor to the Pricing Committee. Provide input to clinical development and commercial planning activities. Ensure that appropriate price and reimbursement achievement estimates are utilized in product planning and forecasting activities.
  • Serve as a liaison to Daiichi Sankyo Development Division and Sankyo Discovery. Develop Value Maps for areas of therapeutic interest to Daiichi Sankyo. Participant in in-licensing and indication sequence evaluations. Develop economic simulation models to evaluate alternative scenarios for optimizing the commercial potential of clinical development programs.
  • Identify Patient Reported Outcomes and Economic endpoints for inclusion in clinical trials. Where appropriate, lead project teams responsibility for the development and validation of new PRO instruments. Partner with Patient Advocacy Organizations to design research projects to improve the quality of care and quality of life of patients and their caregivers.
  • Design and implement Health Enhancement and Disease Management Programs, Quality Improvement Programs and similar Brand and Therapeutic Area Optimization Projects. Partner with employers as necessary to measure the employee productivity benefits associate with Daiichi Sankyo products and programs.
  • Accompany Medical/Outcomes Liaisons as necessary during strategic account presentations and/or research planning meetings to discuss health outcome research design and methodology issues and/or review product health outcomes data.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • Graduate degree or training in Health Economics, Pharmaceutical Administration, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Clinical Epidemiology, Public Health Policy or similar discipline required
  • PhD or MD with additional training in Health Economics preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 4 or More Years experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • relevant experience in contract research organizations or academic medical centers etc. preferred.
  • Previous experience in Strategic Pricing and Reimbursement preferred.
  • Previous experience in Cardiovascular and/or Metabolic Disorders and/or Oncology preferred.
  • Previous experience in interacting with HTA agencies and Payer groups preferred.
  • Previous experience in econometrics and/or database analysis preferred.
  • Previous experience in clinical research or pharmaceutical marketing or marketing research preferred.
  • strong econometric modeling and statistical analysis expertise; preferred
  • efficiency with SAS and similar programs preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Technologies; preferred
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc. preferred
