Position Overview: 

The Systems Administrator will provide day-to-day operational support and management of Prothena applications, network and server infrastructure including integration, implementation and modification of hardware, software and Cloud based applications and systems.

Candidate will ensure service platform availability, data security and compliance requirements.

Develop technical and functional requirements for new systems and upgrades to existing infrastructure. Create systems specifications for vendor assessment & evaluation. Plan, test and deploy new or updated solutions for hardware and software;

Manage user access and rights across systems through implementation of industry security practices. Maintain current system standards and documentation.  Monitor the performance, availability, and back-up/recovery of installed systems.

Managing the installation and integration of system patches updates, and enhancements; ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.

Research and plan for future system architecture updates and deployments in support of business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an established Windows server, Cisco network and cloud-based infrastructure to ensure a secure, cost effective and compliant platform
  • Perform system administration tasks to ensure:
    • Systems availability for end users
    • Data is secured and archived via an established back-up/recovery solution
    • Systems are secured via industry standard security and monitored for activity
    • Systems are maintained, patched and updated
    • System access is maintained to established standards
    • Systems provide the required functionality for business requirements
  • Ensure system availability for end users
    • Monitor internal and cloud based system performance and maintain systems according to requirements
    • Troubleshoot issues and outages and perform root cause analysis
    • Monitor and maintain system security and ensure compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements
    • Upgrade systems with new releases and patches to ensure security and compliance
    • Deploy functional improvements/additional modules/processes to systems to meet business requirements
  • Maintain existing controls, technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Maintain existing controls for data protection, disaster recovery/failover
  • Responsible for system performance and capacity planning
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues (diagnostics, service impact, problem solving, remediation)
  • Develop new solutions for emerging business requirements

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience as a systems administrator, network administrator or similar roles in an enterprise environment (300-400 users) for 10 years with increasing levels of responsibility and large project deployment experience.
    • Relevant degree or diploma in information systems or information technology. BSc/Ba preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
    • Professional certifications in Linux, Microsoft Platform, Network, Security
    • Virtualization deployment and administration experience
    • Prior IT administration experience and project deployment within a regulated environment
    • Windows AD, networks (LAN, WAN), Cloud based platforms and patch management
    • System security implementation, maintenance and monitoring
    • Veeam data backup/recovery
  • Project management experience and delivery for design, integration and deployment of system including Cloud based applications and platforms
  • Automation experience for deployment, maintenance and monitoring
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment

Compensation Overview:

The anticipated annual salary range for this role at Associate Director job level is $185,000 to $240,000, and at Director job level is $205,000 to $265,000.  These are the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

  • All Prothena employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Prothena paying ~90% of plan premiums. 
  • Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.  
  • Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company’s 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances.  The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.  
  • New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays – which includes a Company-wide shutdown at the winter holidays.
