THE ROLE: Associate DevOps Engineer

Job Summary:

The Associate DevOps Engineer position is a team member responsible for designing, developing, and improving internal Managed Services infrastructure, automations and their platforms (with assistance from the Platform Ops team) under direct supervision of the Engineering Manager. The Associate Engineer will participate in the scrum process to select and complete work within sprints. The Associate Engineer will be expected to maintain a high level of collaboration with peers and management via phone, IM, video, and email to ensure selected work is completed while following a documentation first methodology.

Travel Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to travel up to 5%. You can bee based in any US Location

Job Responsibilities:

• Writing Automations and Integrations within various systems, primarily utilizing Python, Ansible and Terraform
• Creating and maintaining Rundeck Jobs
• Develop processes, procedures and documentation to amplify the benefits of existing Managed Services tools
• Use and develop in tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Chef, Rundeck to assist in automating repeatable actions across Managed Services
• Work closely with the Platform Ops team to enable ongoing maintenance and rapid-response for systems developed.
• Understand business drivers to aid in the backlog grooming and prioritization of work within the team.
• Manage time effectively and have the ability to focus and prioritize efforts.
• Able to create documentation and define services/capabilities in a clear and concise language that is easy to read for technical resources.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Experience with one or more of the following:

• Experience working with RESTful APIs
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and *nix operating systems
• Experience using infrastructure as code and automated configuration tools
• Continuously develop technical skills to gain mastery with the established DevOps toolchain and stay current with new services and technologies
• Experience leveraging DevOps solutions to deploy changes to infrastructure
• Experience with continuous integration and automated deployment/management using tools like Jenkins, Git, Jinja, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Packer, or comparable tools
• Programming/scripting with Python, PowerShell, Bash and Groovy
• Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
• Experience with software containers and related technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, ECS, EKS
• Customer service skills and client focus
• Strong communications skills including the ability to communicate technical information in using non-technical language
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and courteous in periods of stress
• Ability to work with broad range of experience levels
• Passion to continue learning and expanding your knowledge.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
