Associate Engineer, R&D

About the Role

As an Associate R&D Engineer at SmartRent, you will assist in the development of new products and solutions, as well as iterate on existing product offerings. You will work directly with product managers and engineers to ensure the successful rollout of new products and your input will have a direct impact on the types of products and services offered by the company. In addition, You will be a technical resource for our installation teams while piloting new products.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement hardware and software testing procedures for new devices
• Provide technical assessment and feedback to hardware engineers and OEM partners
• Evaluate partner devices for potential integrations
• Perform market research on the state of technology in the prop-tech industry and identify areas of improvement
• Assist Field Installation teams with escalated hardware & software issues for new devices
• Serve as a technical point of contact for active pilot programs of new solutions

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in engineering or related computer science field
• Knowledge of common IoT technologies such as Z-Wave, Zigbee, BLE, and LoraWAN
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP Networking
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Familiarity with REST APIs & API test tools such as Postman or Insomnia
• Familiarity with Database structures in SQL

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Access Control products such as Mercury and Altronix a plus
• Experience with Elixir, JS, React Native a plus
• Experience with Agile development environments
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
