Associate Engineer - Space Vehicle Systems Integration & Test (ATLO)

We're seeking an independent, action-oriented engineer to support the space vehicle integration effort of multiple vehicles as the prime contractor at a vendor's site.
This position will require interpersonal communication and coordination skills as well at the technical ability to work side-by-side with the spacecraft vendor and Ball AI&T teams.
This is a challenging, interactive, and fast-paced job which will be exciting and highly gratifying for the successful candidate.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor and assist the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) of a space vehicle in a multiple unit delivery environment.
- The vendor is responsible for AI&T. This position will aid the prime team members.
- Note: AI&T is also known as systems integration and test (SI&T), assembly, test and launch operations (ATLO), missions' systems integration and test (MSIT), and other names throughout the industry.
- Support the Lead Engineer, interfacing with the vendor, on technical issues.
- Review Assembly and Test operation procedures and documentation.
- Review test plans and write, review, update, and implement test procedures/test scripts for the purpose of prototype, qualification, and acceptance testing.
- Conduct functional and environmental testing on spacecraft or instruments and related electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic components and systems.
- Generate, interpret, implement, and monitor test requirements from system, detail design, and contract specifications.
- Maintain required test engineering logs, records, and author test summary reports.
- Support the development, checkout, and certification of ground support equipment.
- Establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of external customers and industry partners.
- Leverage and grow a detailed understanding of spacecraft systems, subsystems, space vehicles, and launch operations.
- Present to peers, management, and external customers and partners.
- Collaborate with system and subsystem engineers, support groups and other program personnel.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Off business hour work (weekend and nights) will periodically be required.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills required.
- Solid attention to detail while appreciating the bigger picture of the complex and ambitious projects that we take on at Ball.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools and have solid computer skills.
- Knowledge and test experience using test automation applications and tools (preferred.
- Experience with anomaly resolution in a space flight hardware environment preferred.
- Experience with software tracking systems (e.g., Jira, SubVersion) preferred.
- Space or military experience preferred.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel aโnd local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Travel and local commute between Ball office and non-Ball location is required.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $87,000 - $107,750 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
