Vast is looking for a highly skilled Associate General Counsel, Regulatory & PolicyĀ to lead a variety of regulatory and compliance matters and policy initiativesĀ in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for managing regulatory compliance, legislative and policy development, developing and implementing scalable processes, policies and procedures, and supporting teams company-wide. As a crucial member of the legal team in a rapidly expanding company, you must be willing to handle a variety of legal matters.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance on government regulations and international laws
- Serve as as legal POC with various government regulators and international organizations, to include FCC, NOAA, Department of State, and Department of Commerce
- Provide strategic advice on legislative and policy development and interface with relevant stakeholdersĀ
- Draft, analyze, and manage complex regulatory applications and licenses with various government agencies
- Collaborate with the engineering, production, and salesĀ teams to achieve key business objectives and provide strategic, business-minded, and solutions-focused legal advice
- Working with a small, collaborative legal team to solve novel, complex and challenging issues company-wide in a rapidly growing environment
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years combined experience in a legal or regulatory role within a government regulator and/or law firm, and in-house in the aerospace or defense industry
- JD with admission to practice law in a state bar in Good Standing
- Experience directly managing a variety of regulatory and policy initiativesĀ
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience building a highly efficient commercial function at a rapidly growing company
- Proven ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and schedules with ease and grace
- Ability to simplify complex legal concepts into straightforward and concise explanations
- Experience implementing efficient processes and policies
- Comfortable operating outside of areas of expertise and in uncharted legal territory
- Excellent communication, analytical, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with excellent time-management and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with the aerospace industry and its unique legal challenges
- Ability to identify and mitigate legal risks while enabling business objectives
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
