Job Description

The Role

The Associate Human Business Partner plays a critical role on Green Thumb’s People Team supporting our Joint Services HR team and our Corporate (Joint Services) departments. This is a hands-on role that will primarily support the Joint Services HR Business Partners in the interpretation, implementation and execution of the People team strategies, programs, and policies in the day-to-day operations. You’ll have a key role in supporting our employee population in the different stages in their life cycle (onboarding, offboarding, promotions/transfers) and ensure that their experience is reflective of our Green Thumb values and behaviors. Under the guidance of the HR Business Partner, this role will also provide HR support and guidance for mid-level managers (Directors and below) and will work closely with our leaders to coach, challenge, collaborate and support them as our business continues to evolve and scale.

This is a hybrid role and required to be based out of the Chicagoland area. 

Responsibilities 

  • HR Business Partner QB: Optimizes and executes the operations and processes of the HRBP team including supporting regular People processes (goal setting, engagement survey and corresponding action planning, talent/performance review, comp review, headcount planning, development, etc.), data integrity, administration, reporting.  
  • Talent Management Support: Supports and guides various levels of management through the process of performance management and employee development, which includes providing sound guidance such as performance assessment, coaching, advancement, and recognition.   
  • Employee Relations: Acts as a credible advisor and trusted confidant to employees, managers, and business leaders. Handles low-risk employee relations issues, including investigations and employee concerns, independently. Exercises sound judgment to escalate, as needed. Provides guidance and assistance for employees and managers on core HR policies and processes and apply training and coaching to managers, as needed.  
  • Data and Reporting: In partnership with the HR Business Partner, understands data and leverages insights on turnover, headcount, exit interview, Inclusion & Belonging to assess and impact the business units. Uses data to arrive at conclusions, formulates proposals, and drives decision-making and recommendations which are presented to the necessary leaders. 
  • Collaborative Partner: Creates and maintains trusting relationships across the organization including strong partnership within the internal People team (Joint Services HR and TA, People team leaders, COEs) to execute day-to-day operations and ensure successful support of the business in various ways, aligned to our culture and business priorities.  
  • Project and Task Management: Leads and/or actively engages in a variety of projects and tasks with cross-functional team members from the development of programs, improvement of processes, or implementation of initiative. Whether it’s a small group task, or a large department project, takes ownership and holds others accountable for follow-up and follow-through. 
  • Culture Consigliore: As a member of the People team, you are part of the heartbeat of Greem Thumb and therefore, you will how to scale and enhance our culture as it relates to employee engagement, building morale and becoming a best place to work in the cannabis industry.  

Qualifications  

  • 4+ years of experience as a strategic business partner and/or progressive HR Generalist experience 
  • Experience supporting a retail or manufacturing environments or high-growth, start-up, fast-paced and/or complex work environment, a plus 
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, Certification, preferred 
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to confidently interface with all levels of the organization as a trusted partner, especially when presenting information or discussing sensitive topics. 
  • Strong written communication skills and writing proficiency for effective problem solving.  
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships and effectively influence all levels of the organization.  
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and passionate about our people and our company but can remain objective and rationale. 
  • Ability to use and apply independent judgment to identify, anticipate, make and execute business-focused recommendations. 
  • Effective organization and planning skills as well as solid analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and execute independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Comfortable adapting to change in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambiguous environment.  
  • Strong knowledge and application of federal and state employment laws. 
  • Impeccable attention to detail. 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks  
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry  
  • Must possess valid driver’s license 
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
