Associate I, Optimization Experience

Summary

The Optimization Experience Associate (OEA) will evaluate, identify, recommend, and conduct various research and development (R&D) activities on new and existing products involving immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures including, but not limited to, new product designs and optimizations based on the OEA’s analysis. The OEA will assist with troubleshooting of reagents and IHC staining, optimization of client menus and any pre-installation tasks needed to ensure client satisfaction.  The OEA functions with minimal supervision and guidance within the R&D laboratory. The OEA is responsible for collecting and organizing relevant data to be used in the distribution to the applicable teams. The OEA may be required to travel on occasion for troubleshooting purposes and may be required to assist in training the applicable teams.

• Determine and perform Histology, IHC, in situ Hybridization (ISH), and Immunofluorescence (IF) testing to optimize existing products.
• Identify, recommend, and perform experiments to determine titers of antibody raw materials and optimization of existing products for platform application in support of Sales/Field Applications.
• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot assays and identify and recommend areas for improvement.
• Perform all activities in accordance with established SOP’s and directions from Manager in a GMP and ISO regulated laboratory.
• Document all activities according to established procedures.
• Assist field applications in customer troubleshooting and product investigation.
• Monitor equipment and instrumentation for compliance to corporate procedures and make recommendations to remedy any that are potentially non-compliant.
• As needed, performs Histology, IHC, ISH, and IF in the development of new products and participates in research projects for posters and publication.
• Up to 10% travel may be required to provide on-site support to FAS team/customers.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology or a related field; or Associate Degree or High School Diploma, with training in Histology & IHC.
• Zero to five (0-5) years’ Laboratory experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a laboratory environment, with an emphasis on high productivity and multi-tasking to progress on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Hands-on experience in Histology, IHC and automated instrumentation, preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks, while supporting fellow team members.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that produce clear, effective, and complete documentation.
• Proofreading skills with good attention to details.
• Thorough understanding of product development in an ISO environment, preferred.

Compensation Range

• $60,000 - $70,000 Annual

Expected Hours of Work

• 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
