Associate - Immigration Advisory (Worldwide Knowledge Management)

Job Description

The Knowledge Management team seeks an experienced business immigration attorney. The Knowledge Management team has global responsibility for keeping clients and staff informed of the changes in the global immigration and mobility landscape and their impact on clients and the firm. We analyze legislation, regulations, agency policy, and mobility trends, and translate them into client communications, practice tools, and internal legal guidance.

You will work closely with Fragomen attorneys and other professionals to answer legal questions and strategize complex cases with a focus on positive outcomes and risk management. You will also help advise the firm's corporate teams on the impact of legal and administrative changes on corporate functions, including the firm's case management systems.

This position can be based out of any Central or East Coast Fragomen Office or remotely based in the Central or Eastern Time zone.

• Provide input and assist Knowledge Advisory team with client research projects, as required, especially with data collection from Subject Matter Experts in their region.
• Manage large scale client projects, including coordinating and overseeing large volumes of transactional immigration work arising from specific client needs, such as from a merger, acquisition, divestiture or other corporate restructuring.
• Develop an understanding of the firm's practice areas and services provided to support clients in immigration program management and compliance.
• Conduct in depth research to support client requests and projects
• Monitor and analyze immigration legislation, regulations, policy, adjudication trends, and practice changes.
• Partner with colleagues to resolve client issues, share information and support client projects
• Provide real-time advice to internal leadership and external clients on novel and complex individual case matters and new or changing immigration policies.
• Establish and maintain relationships with Regional Knowledge Managers and SMEs in all regions and facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge capture.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• 3-5 years of business immigration experience
• Exceptional communication, legal research, writing, and mentoring skills
• A high level of legal judgment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex legal/policy issues clearly and accurately for colleagues and clients
• Great people skills, a service mindset, and an ability to collaborate effectively with senior, peer, and junior colleagues
• Solid practical knowledge of - along with a high-level of comfort in working with - technology tools such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
• Self-sufficient and able to manage workload to meet project deadlines. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• JD from an accredited, ABA-approved U.S. law school
• Active bar membership
