Position Purpose

You will serve as a technical resource focused on automating the manual engineering tasks across all the tech stack within Sleep Number. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. You will be able to use your passion for full lifecycle development, specifically for automating manual tasks including testing, deployment or other manual activities. You'll help promote modern automation approaches and work with other engineers to help them learn. You will be able to work in an entrepreneurial environment, and partner closely with a team of technologists and product managers to develop innovative solutions and tools with a "customer first" mindset.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource assisting in the design, delivery, and support of applications with an agile mindset
  • Ensure the performance, quality, scalability, security, observability and responsiveness of Sleep Number systems
  • Assess and implement automation frameworks to automate key activities
  • Assist in the development of a framework to implement and assess the automation capability, train team members and help to ensure adoption
  • Provide clear communications to stakeholders regarding outcomes, timelines and issues
  • Focus on enhancing the customer experience through applying User Centric design principles
  • Maintain a pulse on emerging technologies, experiment and drive innovations

Position Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year's total work experience
  • Experience leveraging modern development practices with Python, Ruby or equivalent languages
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other engineers on new technology or frameworks
  • Understanding of Software Quality Management, including testing automation techniques, methodologies, processes, tools, artifacts, and measurements
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools like Git, Jenkins, Maven
  • Creative problem solver, with strong analytical skills
  • Collaborative aptitude and experience working in a fast paced, ever-evolving environment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work with limited direction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across a variety of audiences, both technical and nontechnical
  • Flexible availability required - business needs may require work during non-core business hours
