Job Summary:
The Associate Merchandise Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining item plans and forecasts at the channel level for assigned merchandise categories in alignment with top-down financial guidance for both pre-season and in-season milestones. The goal is to maximize growth and profitability by working closely with cross-functional partners to understand & implement effective strategies and action plans to achieve sales, margin, and sell through performance targets in support of department, division, and company-level goals. We are in a state of growth and evolution, and this role will have the opportunity to play a significant part in defining the Filson Merchandise Planning team of the future!
Responsibilities:
- Create bottoms-up pre-season item plans for assigned categories of product that meet the sales, inventory sell through, markdowns, and gross margin targets.
- Conduct hindsight analysis of previous seasonal performance to give insights on positive results or poor performers that will help development future season’s design and assorting process.
- Develop, prepare, and deliver weekly performance reporting (selling, KPIs, etc.), as well as ad hoc recaps.
- Partner with Sourcing & Production Planning to understand receipt risks for upcoming floorsets and communicate risks to cross-functional teams.
- Analyze historical data and current sales trends to recap business & identify risks and opportunities of assigned categories.
- Optimize markdowns and liquidations on underperforming merchandise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in related discipline.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in Merchandise Planning or Forecasting with strong foundation of retail math and concepts.
- Ability to think holistically across strategic, financial, and creative objectives.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of driving insights into actions.
- Strong attention to detail and is flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
- Has a well-informed, and strong voice to effectively communicate with cross-functional partners.
- Proficiency with MS Excel is a must, strong skills required.
- Experience with MS Dynamics AX and/or Power BI is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, curious mindset, and loves a challenge!
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit and work at desk and operate a computer for several hours at a time.

Sampling of Total Rewards Program:
- Compensation type: Exempt Salary
- Compensation: $73,000 - $80,000
- Compensation negotiated based on previous experience & qualifications
