Associate Paralegal, PlayStation Studios
San Mateo, CA (hybrid) - will require coming into office 2x a week* 

Sony PlayStation is seeking a hardworking Associate Paralegal who wants to work on groundbreaking video game product development, marketing, IP, and entertainment issues as a member of the Legal & Public Policy Team. PlayStation offers the opportunity to work at a technology company with an entertainment focus in a casual environment. Responsibilities: 

  • Build strong relationships with business clients by partnering with top-tier game development studios and other internal stakeholders to provide legal support under the supervision of attorneys. 
  • Review video game assets, features, packaging and marketing materials for release, conducting intellectual property clearance (copyright, trademark, right of publicity) and reviewing for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company standards and game rating standards. 
  • Perform trademark and copyright clearance searches. 
  • Assist the business in execution of promotions, including drafting sweepstakes and contest rules and reviewing promotion creative assets for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Build and maintain a solid understanding of the video game industry, PlayStation’s portfolio of products and services, and relevant law by keeping up with industry news and attending legal conferences. 

Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience in intellectual property, technology, marketing/advertising, promotions or entertainment law, in-house or at a law firm. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Paralegal experience. 
  • Ability to assess priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail. 
  • A passion for video games is not required, but nice to have.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

In addition, this role

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$96,600—$145,000 USD
