We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Manager Payroll to join our Finance department here at Altria in Richmond, VA. We support remote working arrangements.
In this role you will:
Have the opportunity to help Altria shape the future and support its Talent and Culture initiative along with other important enterprise priorities. You'll be challenged and empowered to:• Own day-to-day responsibilities within the respective department. This may include performing assessments, analyses, compilations, identifying issues and proposing solutions • Challenge status quo and evaluate ideas cross-functionally • Influence and negotiate effectively using multiple inputs from across the enterprise, while effectively clarifying what matters and driving results• Manage payroll systems infrastructure Partner with IT to understand, test and implement payroll system updates related to payroll processing and tax law• Promote simplification through process innovation and automation while ensuring compliance• Generate and/or evaluate business cases and provide recommendations to management• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure progress and outcomes are aligned with expectations• Ensure payroll interests inform technical problem-solving solutions• Develop and maintain system training protocols for payroll staff members• Conduct ACL system maintenance and updates• Lead complex payroll processing scenarios (restricted stock valuation, etc.)• Design, direct and review processes • Provide guidance to functional areas and payroll staff on compliance • Collaborate with HR on strategy and process improvements
Qualifications include:• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent • Five to eight years of related business experience preferred• Demonstrated strong knowledge of financial software (MS Office, SAP, ACL, etc.)• Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills• Must be able to prepare and deliver presentations and various analyses for company management in a timely and professional manner• Problem solving and decision-making skills should include ability to analyze complex existing business factors and recommend solutions which incorporate key stakeholder considerations
