Associate Principal, Accounting Payroll
Job Description
What You'll Do:
This position is responsible for daily operations surrounding semi-monthly payroll processing and compliance, as well as general accounting functions. Maintains files associated with payroll, HR integration, bank deposits associated with payroll and various vendors related to payroll. Processes employee expense reimbursements and payment processing. Also maintains and records payroll and benefits related transactions, balances ledgers and prepares reports. Special projects as assigned while working under direct supervision of Accounting Management.

- Maintains, reviews and implements updates to payroll policies and procedures for timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefit-related transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, leave of absence and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and payroll tax laws and best practices.
- Supports internal/external audits as point of contact for payroll records and other supporting documentation.
- Complete monthly journal entries and reconciliations
- Reviews employee expense reimbursements
- Complete special projects and other assignments, as needed, for the Accounting department

- [Required] Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes, 5+ years of experience.
- [Required] Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- [Required] Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- [Required] Ability to work as part of a team and assist in all other areas of accounting department.
- [Required] Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- [Required] Ability to work in a professional work environment.
- [Required] Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of an accounting department.
- [Required] Ability to adhere to department driven deadlines.
- [Required] Must be able to prioritize and coordinate competing priorities.
- [Required] Ability to build strong internal/external customer relationships.
Technical Skills & Background
- [Required] Proficient with Microsoft Office
- [Preferred] At least 3 years of experience with ADP Workforce Now
- [Required] Knowledge of accounting software and reporting applications
- [Preferred] Knowledge of Workday, Oracle and Concur
- [Preferred] Knowledge of Tableau
Certifications

Education & Training
- [Required] Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
