Associate Principal, Market Risk Quant
Job Description
The Market Risk Quant role will be part of the Market Risk team and will work closely with OCC's quantitative group and other financial risk teams to enhance current market risk monitoring. The expectation is to oversee development, monitoring and evaluation of market risk models and exposures. A deep understanding of derivative risk management, preferably equity derivatives, is required. Assist in responses to regulatory, audit and compliance inquiries. Develop relationships with internal and external industry stakeholders, Clearing Members, exchanges and other CCPs. Contribute to risk system design, problem resolutions and corporate initiatives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.
Provide support and expertise to further strengthen the Market Risk team's capabilities. Provide expert knowledge in the development and testing of risk models for Market Risk. Products include equities, government securities, options, futures options, and futures. Understand OCC products and services with expertise in Market Risk with work experience in equity derivatives. Support clearing member's inquiries and outreach when necessary. Be a resource to counterparts and other OCC departments with problem resolution and departmental policy, procedure, and process explanation. Form relationships with internal and external auditors, compliance professionals and regulators during exams, audits and reviews. Represent Financial Risk Management on corporate projects and new risk system development.

Strong understanding of statistical concepts, options pricing knowledge, understanding of securities markets, derivatives, and options trading strategies is required
SQL or other coding and querying experience required
Expert Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills
Strong development languages (R, Python, C++)
Basic Tableau or Power BI skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Must be able to work under deadlines and manage multiple tasks
Technical Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Experience with data management tools (SQL, Tableau) required
Experience coding (R, Python, C++) required
Experience using Confluence and Jira preferred
Experience with Bloomberg API and Matlab preferred
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Risk Management or related field
MBA or similar MS degree, or progress towards an advanced degree preferred
7+ years experience in financial services/capital markets and a minimum of 3 years experience in derivatives trading, risk model development or portfolio risk management
Certificates or Licenses:
CFA/FRM or equivalent education preferred
