Associate, Private Investments Valuation

The Point72 Valuation team manages the valuation of all investments across the firm’s extensive hedge fund, private equity, and venture capital portfolios. The team’s investment valuation coverage ranges from exchange traded products to derivatives traded in OTC markets, to venture capital and private equity. The Valuation team provides valuations and P&L for investments for stakeholders across the firm, including senior management, portfolio managers/deal teams, Risk Management, and investor reporting.

• Cover a wide scope of private investment asset classes, including mature PE, early-stage VC, and real estate investments
• Perform valuations of illiquid investments in diverse private equity and venture capital companies within the fund portfolios by building and maintaining valuation models (market comps, DCF, OPM, PWERM, etc.) in accordance to accounting guidance (ASC 820)
• Prepare valuation reports to support recommended fair values of investments for Valuation Committees and external auditors
• Monitor portfolio company progress and events to quantify impacts on valuations and inform senior management
• Review and coordinate valuation and P&L reporting for internal performance tracking and investor reporting

• 2-4 years of private equity valuation experience at a valuation advisory firm, “Big 4” audit firm, or private equity/venture capital firm
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience with financial statements, various stages of businesses from seed to IPO, and the acceptable valuation methods, including market comps, income (DCF), and scenario analysis (PWERM)
• Knowledge of cap tables and the impact they have on equity value allocation across share classes; familiar with the use of Black Scholes or other option pricing models
• Strong Excel modeling skills
• Familiar with Capital IQ
• Strong personal ownership, highly analytical, detail-oriented, and a commitment to excellence
• Ability to work with varying deadlines, as well as address ad-hoc inquiries and projects
• Excellent interpersonal skills, English communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to work effectively on a team

The annual base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
