Associate Product Manager - Commodities

DRW is looking for a Associate Product Manger to join its Commodities trading group to oversee & manage our data ingestion & warehousing infrastructure used to support analytics and trading across many commodity products. You will manage the data needs of many commodities trading desks and be responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of a large-scale data warehouse, working with Data Engineers & Software Engineers to execute both on strategic plans and day to day operational work needed to manage our data.

What You Will Do

• Be the face of our data team, collating and managing data set needs across our trading groups and creating visible plans & timelines for new data projects
• Work day-to-day with Data Engineers & Software Engineers to manage live projects, identify road-blocks & risks and ensure the team can operate efficiently
• Work with the Commodities Engineering technical leads & executive management to communicate data initiatives & ensure the team is fully staffed and appropriately setup to support our data needs.
• Liaise across DRW infrastructure groups such as our Linux server team, storage, database & cloud computing teams to communicate about our initiatives and ensure we have support and capacity from those teams to execute effectively.
• Constantly evaluate our data sets and keep abreast of new market offerings from vendors and internal teams and ensure we have the best foundational data sets in the industry.
• Run communication and education initiatives to ensure all our teams know what data sets we have and how they can use them

Projects you will be involved with
You Will Be Working On Building An Efficient, Scalable Data Warehouse For Analyzing Public And Proprietary Data Feeds Across a Number Data Providers And Data Sets To Support Analytics And Trading Across Many Commodities Products Including:

• Crude oil & refined products balances & forecasting
• Global & regional natural gas and LNG flows
• Agriculture production, exports & forecasting
• Global shipping of commodities
• Demand data for US & European Power
• Environmental markets

What You Bring To The Team

• Experience as a program manager in a technical role, managing software engineers and data analysts
• Excellent communication skills and experience managing cross functional teams and large sets of stake holders
• Experience with agile software development projects and fast-paced, iterative delivery
• Experience in helping to design and implement a technology stack for data management purposes a plus
• Experience working in a commodity trading house or hedge fund a plus
• A passion for planning, organization and skills using technical documentation and planning tools such as Wikis and JIRA
• Familiarity with cloud computing and large-scale data warehouse implementation
• Familiarity with SQL database usage and design
• Familiarity with Python
