Associate Python Data Engineer

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Python developer to support our programs delivering Next-Generation Missile Warning software. This is a unique opportunity to join a small business delivering core capabilities for National defense. You will work within a fast-paced team delivering end-to-end software processing of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) sensor data for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence. You will develop and maintain a database solution to store the expansive data generated during each test of this system. Our ideal candidate will leverage past experience to design a database solution with input from the users and work with them to establish an effective database management process.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a MongoDB for storing data to support performance analysis of algorithms supporting Missile Warning
• Work directly with Analysts and Engineers to identify and document the requirements and use cases of the database system
• Provide troubleshooting support for the team(s) managing the database
• Consult and support the development of related Analysis tools utilizing the database
• Detail oriented

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science with 1+ year of professional experience
• 1+ year experience developing a NoSQL database program using Python
• Demonstrated ability to work on Linux operating systems
• Demonstrated python development experience
• Capability to follow logic in other languages (C++, shell scripts)
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance or higher
• Detail oriented
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing a MongoDB database using Python
• A current active DoD SECRET security clearance or higher
• Experience using visualization, analysis, and GUI Python packages
• Experience with the exploitation and analysis of OPIR data
• An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science
• Experience working in an AGILE development process

The pay range for this position is $82,000 - $91,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
