Associate Quality Scientist

The Associate QC Scientist is responsible for testing of raw materials, intermediates, and final products.  Testing may be conducted for product release, stability testing, validation, and other purposes.  This includes sample preparation, testing and data analysis according to established procedures.  The Associate QC Scientist may also perform routine instrument repair and calibration.

Conduct all experiments in a safe manner by use of SDS to establish chemical hazards; observe the appropriate laboratory procedures; and report all incidents that could threaten the safety of laboratory personnel.

Testing (80%)

• Prepare and analyze samples according to established test methods
• Document testing following established procedures
• Calibrate instrumentation on a scheduled basis
• Assist with equipment and test method troubleshooting
• Support test method characterization and validation activities

Analyst (20%)

• Act as intermediate precision analyst for test method development projects when appropriate
• Provide recommendations for test method updates when necessary
• Assist with special projects as assigned by supervisor
• Conduct routine laboratory housekeeping when necessary
• Assist with data archiving duties

• B.S. or B.A. degree in chemistry, biology or appropriate discipline
• Minimum of 1 year experience in quality control or equivalent laboratory environment
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Basic technical skills/knowledge
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills, team player
• Computer skills appropriate for work responsibilities, including data-acquisition software
• Strong multi-tasking skills
