Associate Sales Manager

Develop and maintain close business relationships with the Bank’s members, while employing a consultative approach to selling the banks products and services to those members. Focus on assessing the needs of the assigned members and aligning those needs with products and services either provided by the bank or being developed by the bank. Assist in the identification of appropriate education, training and guidance to members with respect to products and services suitable to meet specific needs of those members. Identify and develop potential sales opportunities through a number of activities such as regular member contacts, member visits, phone calls, conferences and email etc. Reinforce the FHLB’s value proposition by providing assistance/guidance in selling the Bank’s credit products and services in a manner that increases the inherent business value of its members. Assist members in maximizing the value of their membership by cross-selling the Bank’s products, services and grant opportunities in a manner consistent with the needs of each individual member.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grow, gain, and retain business relationships with members. Cross-selling the Bank’s current portfolio of products and services, while developing a level of trust and confidence with members that foster discussions of ways that the Bank may provide creative, strategic solutions for them. Utilize consultative sales techniques to enhance the value of the member institution’s membership.
- Work with the Senior Sales Officers, Directors and Head of Member Sales and other areas of the Bank to identify marketing opportunities for the development of new products and services.
- Work with the Head of Member Sales and Corporate Communications Department in the development of appropriate marketing and advertising materials for the Bank’s products and services.
- Represent the Bank at business related functions including trade group conferences and FHLBank system conferences.
- Recruitment of new members through active solicitation of nonmember institutions eligible for membership.Â
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree with a major in business, finance, accounting or economics.
- Broad understanding and working knowledge of 1) the capital markets, 2) asset/liability management, 3) financial accounting and 4) commercial and residential lending and mortgage lending preferred.
- 2-3 years of Sales and/or Marketing experience preferred.
- Ability and flexibility to travel to member locations at place and time convenient for members, as well as attend Bank and industry functions, conferences, etc.
- Excellent organizational, presentational, interpersonal, and creative skills, with a thorough knowledge of PC based applications
