Associate Satellite Engineer

Your role in helping us shape the future:
Supporting the satellite engineering staff the success candidate will perform maintenance operations, analyze spacecraft performance and develop and improve processes. You will partner with more senior engineers to develop increased proficiency on satellite systems and subsystems
Are you up to the challenge?
  • Study, learn and train to develop intimate knowledge of geostationary communication spacecraft mission requirements, design, space environment, routine and emergency procedures and operations history and learned lessons.
  • Maintain schedule of routine planned spacecraft operations for assigned spacecraft, direct and monitor execution and review results.
  • Perform routine analysis to monitor the health of spacecraft systems throughout the satellites lifecycle.
  • Support the development, testing and maintenance of spacecraft operation procedures, including performance on the satellite simulator
  • Support the refinement of spacecraft operations processes
  • Execute assigned operations projects that involve investigation, information gathering, design review, documentation, execution and reporting.
  • Support operations integration of new spacecraft.
  • Participate in the development of software tools, methods and procedures to improve testing and measurement capabilities.
  • Support the development, readiness, launch, and in-orbit test of new satellites.
  • Assist in defining and developing satellite system and subsystem requirements for ground network systems. This includes contributing to the development of test plans, conducting acceptance tests, and resolving issues.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of reports summarizing technical analysis findings and recommendations

You should definitely have:
  • Bachelor of Science in a relevant field such as aerospace or electrical engineering.
  • Course work establishing fundamental engineering knowledge required for satellite operations: basic physics, basic electronics, and basic mechanical and basic computer operation.
  • Must be able and willing to provide support in an On-Call capacity
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Experience in performing analysis in Excel and/or Matlab.
  • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee)

It would be nice if you had:
  • Experience with Visual Basic a plus.
  • Advanced coursework in controls, electronics, and dynamics is a plus.
  • Computer skills in the field of programming, database applications and web languages a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in programming/operations languages such a Python is a plus
  • Participation in school project demonstrating creative problem solving, teamwork, and thoroughness a plus.
  • Job experience in applicable engineering discipline a plus
  • Mission or operation experience
  • Test or procedure validation experience

  • Pay Rate: The annual salary range for this position is $64,100 to $88,100. In determining compensation, Intelsat considers factors including position scope and responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, internal peer equity, as well as others when extending an offer.
