About us…

Photys is an exciting early-stage, Longwood Fund-backed biotechnology company developing novel bifunctional small molecules for fine-tuned control of post-translational modifications beyond ubiquitination, building off the same principles that underpin PROTACs. We will unlock directed protein post-translational modifications as a therapeutic strategy to treat a broad range of diseases such as oncology, immunological diseases, and metabolic diseases as well as genetic disorders.

What you will do...

• Maintain and develop working knowledge of contemporary cell biology methods and assay building that are pertinent to Photys
• Work closely with the biology team to design assays
• Run and be responsible for the day-to-day experiments such as designing and performing various cell biology efforts such as maintaining cells and performing proper cell culture techniques, running western blots, running assays measuring protein interactions in live cells
• Help contribute to the broader team of internal and external biologists & chemists to hit key milestones from hit identification through candidate nomination
• Document high quality results in electronic lab notebooks, and present and share results with the broader team of scientists and leadership.

About you...

• BS in molecular biology, cell biology or related fields
• 6+ years of experience working as a cell biologist in a biotech/pharma setting
• In-depth knowledge and experience in working with kinases  
• Demonstrated hands on experience with tissue culture, western blotting, and cell-based assays especially assays measuring protein interactions in live cells such as NanoBRET™.
• Trained in sterile technique and mammalian cell culture (e.g. complex cell culture methods, cell-based assay development, and media preparation)
• Experience with cell and molecular biology techniques such as DNA purification, PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, etc.
• Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications on kinases and demonstrating proficiency in cell biology techniques
