How you’ll make an impact:
As an ASI, Gene Editing Genomics, you will make in impact by understanding and characterizing the function, specificity, and safety our our engineered megaTAL nucleases used in oncology and in vivo gene editing programs.
About the team:
Join 2seventy bio’s cutting-edge discovery research team as we develop technologies to enhance and expand our gene editing program. The successful candidate will join the Gene Editing group and develop tools to understand and characterize the function, specificity, and safety of our engineered megaTAL nucleases used in oncology and in vivo gene editing programs.
How you’ll spend your time:
- Execution of molecular biology, cloning, cell culture and functional assays to characterize our engineered nucleases
- Provide team support for basic laboratory tasks including mammalian tissue culture, DNA/RNA extraction, preparation of NGS libraries along with appropriate QC methods.
- Innovating, testing, and troubleshooting new methods and equipment
- Work closely with other scientists to coordinate and execute complex experiments
- Compile and present research data to functional teams
- Maintain an electronic lab notebook
Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:
- BS degree in biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biophysics or related discipline
- 3+ year track record of lab experience with a molecular biology focus
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, primer design, PCR, digital PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, restriction enzyme and Gibson cloning.
- Experience in NGS library preparation and analysis is a plus.
- Familiarity with DNA software tools for plasmid and sequence analysis (e.g. Geneious), and statistics/visualization such as GraphPad Prism or R.
- Team player with scientific curiosity
- Ability to meticulously maintain a lab notebook and contribute to support documentation
- Proven ability to effectively plan and organize work activities to meet schedules and deadlines. Superb organizational skills
We offer a total compensation and rewards package that ranks among the best in our industry. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The anticipated annualized salary range for this ASI level role is $80,000-$90,000. Your base pay will be determined based on several factors including demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, experience, qualifications, travel requirements, and job location.
