Job Description

The Opportunity

The heart of Insitro's strategy is the development of novel, cutting edge methods in machine learning and high-throughput biology that address key bottlenecks in the drug development pipeline. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a growing epidemic and in its advanced form leads to liver cirrhosis and mortality. The metabolic diseases team at insitro is seeking a highly motivated candidate with cellular and molecular biology experience to support target discovery, validation and drug discovery efforts in MASLD. In this role the ideal candidate will be able to design and execute experiments, as well as analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate results. The candidate will work closely with their manager and other metabolic diseases TA scientists to support exploratory and portfolio efforts.  Your responsibilities will likely evolve as the project advances and offer significant learning opportunities.

This is a lab-based role in our South San Francisco office, onsite 5x/week.

Responsibilities

  • Culture and maintenance of primary and immortalized cell lines.
  • Execute medium and high throughput cell-based assays to advance MASLD phenotyping and validation efforts.
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments such as but not limited to transfection, gene expression analysis, immunostaining, ELISA and western blotting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments in electronic lab notebook (ELN) and follow all laboratory training and safety requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates to provide scientific input and meet project goals.

About You

  • Bachelor's/ Master’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology or a relevant scientific subject area
  • At Least 5 years (for Bachelor’s) and 2 years (for Master’s) of laboratory based experience in academia and/or industry
  • Required - experience with mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Required - experience with cell based analytical assays, such as ELISA/western blot, biochemical assays, qPCR, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry etc
  • Experience with troubleshooting and incorporating insights/protocols from literature
  • Familiarity with oligonucleotide screening assays
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of metabolism and pharmacology (nice to have)

About insitro

insitro is a drug discovery and development company using machine learning (ML) and data at scale to decode biology for transformative medicines. At the core of insitro’s approach is the convergence of in-house generated multi-modal cellular data and high-content phenotypic human cohort data. We rely on these data to develop ML-driven, predictive disease models that uncover underlying biologic state and elucidate critical drivers of disease. These powerful models rely on extensive biological and computational infrastructure and allow insitro to advance novel targets and patient biomarkers, design therapeutics and inform clinical strategy. insitro is advancing a wholly owned and partnered pipeline of insights and therapeutics in neuroscience, oncology and metabolism. Since launching in 2018, insitro has raised over $700 million from top tech, biotech and crossover investors, and from collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.
