About This Role

Apeel Sciences is seeking a motivated and resourceful Associate Scientist to support manufacturing and production of Apeel products. This position will require analysis of samples generated at various stages in the process using a variety of chromatographic, spectroscopic and other analytical techniques. Non-routine analysis may also be required as part of new ingredient or supplier qualification processes. Technical knowledge, troubleshooting and problem solving will be fundamental skills required of this position.

In addition to analyzing, interpreting, and communicating results to other team members, this person will be required to generate reports and standard operating procedures. This position would be most suitable to an individual who enjoys a creative, collaborative environment and spending time in the lab. 

This position will report to the Director, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance and will be based in Santa Barbara, California. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately. This opportunity will be a 6 month contract position. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Analyze raw materials, in-process materials and finished products using the applicable methods, including sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis, and proper documentation
  • Support instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair including but not limited to HPLC, GC, Titrators, FTIR and NIR
  • Support method validation, including development of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Continuous improvement of existing methods and processes

What You Bring 

  • MS or BS in Analytical Chemistry or related field, but a candidate with relevant experience in QC/QA will also be strongly considered
  • Method validation experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Highly organized and with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel with each other.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Experience using applicable methods, including sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis, and proper documentation

Preferred Qualifications 

  • MS or BS in Analytical Chemistry or related field
  • Method validation experience is preferred

Yearly compensation for this role is expected to be between $65,000 and $75,000. Actual base pay may be higher or lower depending on geographic locations, skills, experience, and other factors permitted by law.
