Shape Therapeutics is headquartered in Seattle, Washington with a satellite site in Boston, Massachusetts.
We are seeking an Associate Scientist, Vector Platform Development to join the Process and Product Development team to help characterize novel genetic therapeutics. An ideal applicant will have broad molecular biology experience with a strong background in a next generation sequencing, a variety of cloning techniques, tissue culture experience, a collaborative spirit, and a desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Independently design and execute experiments to achieve departmental goals
- Develop and perform next generation sequencing, including sample preparation and bioinformatic analysis of data
- Independently and consistently follow established protocols, analyze and communicate results
- Validate rAAV performance in a tissue culture setting using a broad range of molecular biology techniques (e.g. plasmid cloning, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing, qPCR, ddPCR, western blot, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, etc.)
- Helping cross functional projects by assisting co-workers when needed
- Independently trouble-shoot project related problems
- Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook
What you Bring:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in an academic or industry laboratory setting
Skills and Experience:
- DNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis (Illumina, PacBio, Nanopore)
- Familiarity with DNA editing software (e.g. Geneious, SnapGene, ApE, BioEdit)
- Restriction enzyme cloning, Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate Assembly
- Molecular Biology (DNA/RNA purification, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, ddPCR, Cell Culture, Aseptic Technique, SDS-PAGE/Western Analysis)
- Ability to troubleshoot and think analytically
- Strong work ethic and a collaborative, team player
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication
- Experience with AAV is desirable
Compensation & BenefitsÂ
ShapeTX offers a robust benefits package, including but not limited to: Medical, Dental and Vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. We provide eligible employees with 12 paid Holidays plus a one week winter break at year end. Pay Range
The salary range for this role is $82,000 – 110,000. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications and professional experience. Additional compensation may include annual target bonus and/or sign-on bonus, equity grant and relocation bonus.
