ShapeTX is seeking an Associate Scientist/Senior Research Associate, Downstream Development. In this role, you will develop and implement viral vector purification processes as part of ShapeTX’s novel gene therapy technology platform.  The Associate Scientist, Downstream Development will be responsible for helping to develop purification unit operations, and executing chromatography and filtration protocols, supporting a wide range of ShapeTX development and therapeutic opportunities.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth startup and participate in product development for a pioneering RNA targeting technology to create the next generation of gene therapies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a collaborative spirit, and a desire to work in a fast-paced startup
What You’ll Do:
- Perform purifications to support P&PD activities
- Participate in the development of purification unit operations
- Independently follow established protocols, analyze and communicate results
- Maintain laboratory supplies and reagents
- Keep organized and detailed records using an electronic laboratory notebook
What you Bring:
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline and 0-2 years of industry experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 2-4 years of industry experience.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with chromatography and chromatographic instruments
- Experience in the development and optimization of purification processes
- Ability to troubleshoot and think critically
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and support multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-science environment
- Ability to think creatively and tackle challenges with a problem-solving attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AAV production
Compensation & BenefitsÂ
ShapeTX offers a robust benefits package, including but not limited to: Medical, Dental and Vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. Pay Range
The salary range for the Associate Scientist role is $82,000 - $110,000 and the salary range for the Senior Research Associate role is $72,000-$98,000. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications and professional experience. Additional compensation may include annual target bonus and/or sign-on bonus, equity grant and relocation bonus.
