The Project Siting Team is responsible for securing strategic land that is necessary for the future development and construction of utility scale solar farms.
The Associate Siting Manager will operate in collaboration with the Landowner Outreach Team to build our project pipeline by assisting the Siting Managers with land lead generation. A junior developmental role to the Siting Manager, the Associate Siting Manager will operate on a specified deal team to provide market insight and facilitate workflow for Siting Campaigns. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building relationships with our landowner partners, be resourceful and innovative with ways to interact with potential partners, think creatively to overcome logistical challenges, and possess the ability to eventually manage a regional pipeline of targets.
- Operate as part of a team, generating leads within specific markets for the Siting Managers and coordinating turnover of opportunities from the Landowner Outreach team to the Contracts team.
- Become initial point of contact for landowner responses to campaigns.
- Engage with private landowners and institutional land holders to qualify initial leads for suitability.
- Establish transmission review with the Grid Integration team and generate initial feedback reviews.
- Coordinate and meet with landowners virtually and in-person as necessary. Willingness to travel when required to close a deal is important. At PGR, we fundamentally believe that meeting with landowners in person is key to building the trust and rapport necessary for a successful, long-term partnership. Travel will be up to 50% of the time, however only 25% in the initial 6 months of employment and performed while accompanying the Siting Manager.
- Perform cold calling of potential landowner partners.
- Perform land database reviews.
- Generate mailer targets in cooperation with the Project Coordinator and GIS team.
- Coordinates Market Development team and Project Finance team on market comparatives and valuations.
- Records Sales Force inputs (logging calls, emails, potential contracting structures, etc.)
- Draws initial Google Earth site layouts and vets leads for additional aggregation opportunities and easement infrastructure needs.
- 3+ years’ experience of forward-facing, customer focused background.
- Strong business acumen and competency discussing financial transactions fluidly.
- Tracking progress and honoring commitments to internal and external stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify creative solutions based on partner feedback.
- Strong closer with great negotiation skills.
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity and operating independently while maintaining deliverable timelines.
- Willing to operate as part of a broader strategic team within the Siting Department.
- Patience to thrive in a long sales process with multiple milestones.
- Working knowledge and preferably direct experience regarding solar development and land use.
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills including face-to-face, written, and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Google Earth, MS Office Suite.
- Tenacious approach to work and acute attention to detail to ensure that documentation is correct.
- Solar or renewable energy experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Real Estate preferred.
- Three (3) years’ experience in sales, real estate, legal and/or solar preferred.
- Travel up to 50%, 25% for the first six (6) months in the role.
