At Anaplan, we are searching for a self-motivated ASSOCIATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our growing team of global engineers in our Rise Program in OTTAWA, CANADA to build and shape award-winning, cloud planning technology that is helping people and companies around the world every day to make better-informed plans and decisions.
Those hired into this role are invited to engage in a 12-month engineering learning and development experience where new engineers will receive accelerated training, elevated support, and mentorship. The program commences in July 2023 and offers you the opportunity to develop, both individually and skilfully.

What will you learnWe offer motivated Software Engineers the chance to improve their knowledge and stay at the forefront of technology. Our Software Engineers demonstrate:
- Leading techniques such as reactive programming using the best technologies appropriately: you will find us using Rust, Kotlin and Java on top of compute managed by Kubernetes.
- Domain specific languages and model driven engineering to expose clean but expressive interfaces.
- Hybrid cloud infrastructure to supply our product with the resources it needs to best meet our customers’ requirements.
- Java's concurrency primitives to prevent blocked threads and optimize garbage collection activity.
- Knowledge of the whole system stack, from hardware, operating system, multiple languages, and virtualisation techniques through to the network.
On any given day as a Software Engineer, you may find yourself:
- Implement highly scalable distributed services in a hybrid cloud environment using Java11, Rust, Kotlin, Kubernetes, Docker, and other similar tech.
- Ensure the quality of our services and be a strong enthusiast for maintainability and observability.
- Implement code to the desired specification following the standard methodologies, including tests (TDD) and documentation.
- Work in an Agile development environment, where team autonomy is valued
- Shadow the senior members of the team to ensure architecture and design is at its best,
- Learn to apply your judgment to know what to defer, and what problem needs to be solved now, with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2023.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Distributed Systems and programming techniques.
- Relational and Distributed Database management systems.
- Building and maintaining a SaaS product at scale.
- Containers and container-orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Monitoring and metrics infrastructure (Splunk, SignalFX, Prometheus).
- Public Cloud (e.g., AWS / GCP/ Azure).
- Creative problem solver who can both give and receive feedback.(insert preferred skills here)
We're not looking for you to have experience in all the below, just a desire to learn new technologies.
- Programming Languages: Java11, Kotlin

- CI/CD/Build etc.: GitHub, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, Harness, Artifactory
