Job Description

Core Responsibilities
- Ensure OSHA and company safety practices are identified and incorporated where appropriate through the EH&S Design Review process (formerly known as the 11.03) for individual projects and/or engineering layouts on routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance and review to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance on the protection of wetlands and wildlife during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance on water management issues during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance for chemical management during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance for waste management during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance for wastewater and oil management (including SPCC, PBS, CBS and MOSF issues) during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide general guidance to EH&S staff and engineering organizations concerning company policy and regulatory compliance for miscellaneous safety and environmental issues and concerns during engineering planning, design, and construction activities for individual projects and routine/recurring work while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Participate in project field meetings and conduct periodic field inspections while working under a 3L Section Manager to ensure all EH&S concerns are identified, communicated, incorporated into the project design, and properly addressed during construction.
- Conduct annual review/analyses of completed EH&S Design Reviews from previous year for compliance with CEHSP A11.03 process, company policy, regulations and field implementation while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Act as the regional lead supporting various engineering groups to properly identifying and addressing EH&S concerns during the project-planning phase while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager.
- Participate in customer Business and Safety meetings and similar to discuss or present on EH&S related issues for discussion while working under the guidance of a 3L Section Manager
- Respond to operating department requests for assistance and support on EH&S issues while working under a 3L Section Manager.
- Provide support, while working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Section Manager, to Con Edison's EH&S related training programs.
- Teach CEHSP and other training classes related to CEHSP A11.03, working under the guidance and mentorship of a 3L Manager.
- Support inclusion of Sustainability initiatives into the project design process.
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and at least two years of relevant work experience within EH&S
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (safety, engineering, physical science, or biological science); non-technical disciplines will be consdidered preferably in EH&S
- Associate's Degree in a related discipline (safety, engineering, physical science, or biological science); non-technical disciplines will be consdidered preferably in EH&S
Relevant Work Experience
- Must understand the vital importance of teamwork, communication and promote a positive work ethic to support our Corporate Values and Mission. Required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Windows OS. Required
- Strong working knowledge of Federal, State and Local EHS Regulations and Company procedures and manuals for environmental and safety concerns (including but not limited to asbestos, lead, natural resources, water discharge management, oil management, hazardous waste, remediation issues, excavations, confined space). Required
- Experience reading technical drawings and demonstrate the ability to verify the scope of work from what is contained in the drawing. Required
- Must be self-reliant, resourceful, and have the ability to handle multiple assignments Preferred
- Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment, and be able to interact effectively with all levels of management, union work force, and external agencies when necessary. Preferred
- Must be able to exercise good judgment and render sound technical decisions. Preferred
- Experience including Sustainability options in engineered projects. Preferred

Physical Demands
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- Ability to read small print and symbols
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must have a valid driver's license. The use of personal vehicle to travel to various company and field locations is required.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) during field visits.
