Job Description

SUMMARY

Ares is seeking an Associate to work within the Strategic Partnerships team, based out of New York. The position will focus on Investment Management for select LP relationships including portfolio reporting and analytics, however the role will require flexibility and rapid learning to become an expert in multiple functional areas. This role supports key strategic priorities and provides a high degree of visibility to executive level senior management as well as some of the largest global institutional investors.

The Strategic Partnerships team works to deepen Ares' relationships with select LPs, which includes relationship development as well as investment and portfolio management for investors. The Strategic Partnerships team also works closely with business stakeholders across the platform including Ares' five business lines as well as operational teams (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Tax, Quantitative Research Group, etc.).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to: Partner, Head of Investor Strategy & Solutions

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, manage and review investment and portfolio for internal and external reporting
  • Support development of investment portfolio monitoring, risk analysis and modeling
  • Manage data collection process for investment portfolios
  • Support ongoing development and maintenance of various client materials such as illustrative portfolio construction, quarterly update presentations, investor reporting, request for proposals (RFPs) and other ad-hoc client requests
  • Work directly with various groups across the firm in order to prepare materials and execute on various projects
  • Assist in management of client co-investment portfolios
  • Document and develop team processes and procedures
  • Organize, plan and prepare materials for client meetings and calls
  • Utilize new technology and processes
  • Maintain investor data, investment and co-investment opportunities in Salesforce and DealCloud

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • College graduate with major in Economics, Finance, General Business or Management preferred, with outstanding academic record

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of work experience in a fast-paced, self-driven role
  • Prior experience in the asset management industry preferred, but not required

  • Polished, professional presence and ability to represent the firm positively to key constituents
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Prior experience with financial modeling
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and PowerBI, or the desire to learn

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$100,000-$140,000
