Associate Strategist
Job Description
The Associate Strategist is the scout of strategy, learning fast, bringing raw talent, and supporting team members.You take lead on initial research audits, turning observations into insights, and you understand basic strategy tools. You bring passion. And you scout for specialties to grow in your career.The Associate Strategist position must understand and contribute to the art and science of strategy. You must be rigorous, collaborative, action-rich, and always practical with your work.You support day-to-day deliverables and the occasional initiation of first drafts. You need to demonstrate strong writing and curation skills and must find proactive ways to contribute across the spectrum for clients.You must also exhibit a desire to learn about other departments in the agency, how work gets done, and how the industry works.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for diving deep into audits and 5 Signs projects to understand the business, consumer relevance, category opportunities, cultural happenings, experience moments, and what makes the brand unique.
- Understand and learn methods to get to findings needed - strategy tools and resources, as well as creative digging
- Involvement in primary research methodology (eg. screener development) participating, compiling “hot takes” findings into a report, and presenting results in internal meetings
- Participate in strategy development initiatives (5 Signs, positioning, annual plans, creative briefs, etc)- eg. developing strategic “territories”
- Proactive Field Work - observing and interviewing consumers for relevant clients
- Monitors and interprets business, category, cultural and social trends relevant to clients.
- Participate in brainstorms, share feedback in creative reviews, and attend client meetings to better understand the role of a strategist in every level of discussion
- Support new business in audits and insight gathering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or equivalent industry experience preferred.
- 1+ years of work experience, including fieldwork or internships in advertising either in creative work or qualitative research and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
