Associate Teacher in Los Angeles
Job Description
Job Summary
This position is a full time (40 hours per week) position, will consist of working at a center location.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with educational standards and cater to various learning styles.
• Utilize effective behavior management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly to meet individual needs.
• Foster literacy education through innovative teaching techniques and resources.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
• Support early intervention strategies for students requiring additional assistance.
• Engage in classroom management practices that promote respect, responsibility, and cooperation among students.
• Incorporate elements of Montessori or other educational philosophies as appropriate to enrich the learning experience.
• Facilitate physical education activities that encourage healthy habits and teamwork among students.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Requirements
• 1. Minimum Requirements for Associated Teacher
To apply for a teaching position candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Educational Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
Permit Requirements:
- Valid Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
Infant/Toddler Units:
- Completion of six (6) units in infant/toddler development is MUST.
Additional Requirements:
- Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications.
- DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance and vaccination records (influenza, Tdap, MMR).
- Valid California Driver’s License, personal vehicle, and auto insurance.
2. Required Coursework for Child Development Permit
- Child/Human Growth and Development: A course on developmental stages of children.
- Child, Family, and Community: A course examining interrelationships among children, families, and communities.
- Program/Curriculum: A course focused on curriculum development and program planning for young children.
Additional Coursework:
- Six units in Infant/Toddler Development
Additional Requirements:
Drivers License and car insurance.
All coursework must be degree-applicable, completed with a grade of 'C' or better, and taken at a regionally accredited institution.
