Associate Threat Intelligence Analyst - APEX/SUPER

This Role: Insikt Group’s Subscriptions and Periodicals (SUPER) team supports our clients in providing timely and accurate summaries of and context about recent cyber threat events, threat actor campaigns, and data breaches. This contextual information and intelligence is provided to our clients in the Recorded Future Intelligence Cloud as Insikt Group notes called Validated Intelligence Events (VIEs). As an Associate Threat Intelligence Analyst on the Subscriptions and Periodicals (SUPER) team, you’ll be responsible for assisting operational, day-to-day research and production of VIE notes, as well as review of VIE notes produced by other analysts. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, you will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement within the existing VIE note production process, and implementing process improvements to increase the quality, quantity, and timeliness of VIE notes.

You will also be responsible for regular support of finished intelligence reports. Writing both VIE notes and recurring reports will require the ability to work with open source material and recurring datasets, while also requiring flexibility to quickly research and analyze a broad spectrum of cyber threat activity, from new attacks against automotive technology to patterns in malware development.

What you’ll do as Associate Threat Intelligence Analyst- APEX/SUPER: 

• Review open sources and Recorded Future Platform data to identify topics to be prepared as VIE notes within the Recorded Future Platform
• Understand and prioritize preparation of VIE note based on intelligence and collection requirements
• Review VIE notes prepared by other analysts, to ensure high quality of notes prior to publication within the Recorded Future platform
• Identify opportunities for automation within the VIE note production workflow, and spearhead automation efforts
• Research sets of standardized queries related to cyber threats for clients on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly)
• Produce and review finished intelligence reports that address clients’ priority intelligence requirements across a broad range of cyber threat activity topics
• Work on projects with often tight deadlines
• Collaborate with a team of highly skilled analysts with expertise across many areas of cybersecurity and threat intelligence

What you’ll bring as Associate Threat Intelligence Analyst- APEX/SUPER (required):

• Experience working as a threat intelligence analyst or in a similar position
• Expert written and verbal communication skills (writing ability to be assessed via a writing sample)
• BA/BS or MA/MS degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• Ability to convey complex technical and non-technical concepts in both written and verbal products
• Demonstrable experience researching and summarizing cyber threat events

Additional skills/experience (preferred but not required):

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Javascript, C, etc.
• Familiarity with and use of common cyber threat intelligence tools such as DomainTools, VirusTotal, SHODAN, etc.
