Amplify is looking for a strategic, growth-focused, and results-driven Associate Vice President, Math and Science Marketing to drive product marketing strategy for Amplify's fast-growing K-12 portfolio of core curriculum, assessment, and digital supplemental math and science programs.
The AVP will report to the VP, Product Marketing & GTM Strategy and work closely with colleagues on the Marketing team as well as senior leaders across General Management, Product, Sales, Corporate Strategy, Operations, and Customer Success teams.
The AVP must be a confident and adept leader with the ability to deeply understand and supply to business strategy, with a track record of translating strategy into concrete marketing plans that result in real business outcomes.
Responsibilities of the AVP, Math and Science Marketing:
Marketing Strategy and Go to Market Leadership
  • Lead marketing strategy for the K-12 math and science portfolio, with an emphasis on Go to Market leadership.
  • Align with GMs and senior leaders on product launches and turning points, including building cases, establishing and sharing roadmaps, and conducting formal and informal market research.

Product Positioning and Development
  • Lead marketing strategy for product launches including new math and science products, significant improvements to existing products, Spanish Language translations, and new editions.
  • Partner with GMs and Sales to craft the product roadmap across the math and science portfolio, bringing to bear deep expertise of the market landscape.
  • Develop and refine the positioning and messaging for new products and features, ensuring a consistent story across the portfolio.
  • Guide the development of collateral and sales tools that communicate each program's differentiators to customers at the classroom, school, and district levels.
  • Lead sales training on positioning, competitive analysis, and product launch plans.
  • Own competitive analysis strategy and lead the development of relevant, up-to-date resources to support the Sales team and continuously improve programs.

Sampling and Pilots
  • Develop outstanding sampling and digital review solutions for the STEM portfolio, with a focus on compelling experiences that anticipate buyers' needs.
  • Partner with GMs and Growth Marketing to develop free trial strategies for digital STEM products, from activation, usage, and develop to purchase.
  • Work with Sales and Product leaders to operationalize pilots for K-12 core curriculum, including early adoption piloting for the next core science product.
  • Advise on the platform development roadmap to reduce friction in digital trial and sampling experiences and encourage product adoption.

Adoptions
  • Partner with Field Marketing, GMs, and Sales leaders to develop comprehensive marketing strategies for state adoptions.
  • Develop state-specific positioning and messaging; sampling and reviewer solutions for state review, committees, and caravans; customized collateral; state-specific product launch plans; and more.

Cross-Selling, Upselling, and Bundling
  • Position Amplify's connected core and supplemental math products as connecting content and teacher support to evidence-based practices that drive student outcomes.
  • Develop collateral and sales tools that highlight the program connections across the portfolio to enable cross-selling.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to develop effective bundling solutions across the math and science portfolio as well as with literacy products, when sensible.
  • Collaborate with Demand Gen, Customer Engagement, Sales, and Customer Success to develop and implement upsell strategies across the portfolio.
  • Advise on platform development and product roadmap improvements to improve cross-product user experience and enable cross-selling and upselling.

Math and Science Research and Market Drivers
  • Understand at a deep level the existing research about math pedagogy and practice, the standards movements and rollouts, and upcoming market drivers and act as an internal authority to guide marketing and sales strategy.
  • Consult with the Growth Marketing team on Top-of-funnel campaigns, community, podcast, and events.
  • Develop assets and sales tools that illustrate the connections between our programs and the efficacy research and market drivers.
  • Stay on top of developments in the field and within the math and science education communities to act as the VOC for Product Development.

Basic Qualifications of the AVP, Math and Science Marketing
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of product marketing experience in education publishing or ed-tech
  • Experience working on state-level curriculum adoptions
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve valuable results
  • Problem-solving skills to work through sophisticated challenges
  • Strong writing and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to think and act both strategically (big picture) and tactically (details)
  • Ability to work in a versatile, fast-paced environment
