Chevron is accepting online applications for the ATF/EV Fluid Test Engineer & OEM Liaison position through February 4th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (CST). 

Oronite’s Driveline &Hydraulics (DL&H) organization provides products and technical support for Oronite’s global strategic agenda. The Test Engineer / OEM Liaison´s primary responsibilities will focus on Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF) and Electrical Vehicle Fluids (EVF) with secondary responsibilities in Power Transmission Fluids (PTF / TO-4 / THF) and Automotive / Industrial gear oils (AGO / IGO).

- Providing technical support for test development, testing (field and lab), data interpretation, failure analysis, and customer requests (internal and external). Examples include:

  • Work with stakeholders (product line managers, formulators, sales, OEMs, industry organizations, customers, end-users, etc.) to understand current and future fluid requirements and provide unique, objective-driven solutions.
  • Develop/modify test stands to mimic field conditions/issues, increase severity/repeatability, decrease duration/cost, product baselining / differentiation, and to support research and development.
  • Develop and provide internal/external training, marketing material, and technical responses to support/defend Oronite products.
  • Provide technical response for product claims requiring engineering judgment based on bench lab, and/or field data such as Suitable-for-Use (SFU) and “meets performance level” claims for the various regions/regulations.

Managing OEM / Industry relationships, influencing industries decisions / direction, monitoring / reporting trends, future disrupters, (hardware / specification / regulation changes), and participating in industry activities. Examples include:  

  • Build and foster influential relationships with strategic OEM’s and industry organizations to understand and influence future specifications in Oronite’s favor.
  • Assemble technical data packages and obtain approvals / acceptances from OEMs, industry organizations, and customers through approval processes, read-across protocol, and negotiations.
  • Meet with OEMs and industry to obtain trend data, current issues, hardware changes, specification requirements, regulatory constraints, and future needs for fluid development.
  • Provide technical response for product claims requiring wavers, read-across, re-brand, and negotiations with OEMS, industry organizations and customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years working directly with automatic transmission OEMs
  • Experience with electric vehicle transmission OEMs and/or industry workgroups

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electric vehicle transmission testing experience

Relocation Options:

  • Relocation may be considered.
