Job Objective: This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience with counseling engineering product teams on all aspects of the product lifecycle from inception through market delivery. In this role, you will work closely with a talented engineering team to bring innovative products to market.
Duties- Counsel the product group on all legal aspects of the product lifecycle from product inception through market delivery
- Advise and work closely with the product group, supply chain and trade to ensure regulatory and export compliance, including ITAR and Buy America
- Be a strategic partner and work cross functionally not only with the product group but with other departments, including engineering, supply chain and contracts, to develop go-to-market strategies and deliver on sales commitments
- Draft and negotiate contracts necessary to support the entire product lifecycle, including reseller and distribution channel agreements, support agreements and standard commercial terms and conditions for each specific product
- Support the legal department needs as necessary to review, draft, and negotiate other complex commercial agreements with large enterprise and strategic customers and suppliers
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of legal and compliance program processes and procedures
- 5+ years legal work experience in commercial contracts, intellectual property matters, product (ideally hardware) development and technology transactions, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience with technology companies
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in at least one U.S. state, preferably California
- Strong client counseling skills, excel at developing deep partnerships in creating and executing go-to-market strategies, and ability to draft and negotiating complex strategic partnerships
- Experience advising clients in structuring complex product development strategies and commercial transactions
- Extensive background in drafting and negotiating services agreements, sales agreements, licenses, custom development and intellectual property agreements
- Focused on achieving business objectives, creative problem solving, and employing a growth-mindset, while defining and supporting a responsible, strategic, compliant and ethical approach to business challenges
- A strong passion to learn new things
