Job Description
Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE NON-BARGAINING UNIT POSITION.
This position is for an AUDITOR, Position Description Numbers T5148P01(09)/T5147P01(11)/T5144P01(12) and is part of the Montana Army National Guard, G8. (PDs can be obtained from HRO.)
Selected candidates will NOT be required to be a member of the Montana Army National Guard.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- This position in a Financial Management Level 2 certified position designated IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051, amending 10 United States Code, section 1599d.
- Must be able to obtain FM Level 2 certification within 24 months of appointment.
- Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
- External applicants must be able to start within 6 months of selection.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have experience, education or training which provided skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; skill in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material; ability to comprehend and/or apply problem solving and negotiating techniques; skill in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; ability to prepare reports and presentation formats.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GS-09:
Must possess one of the following:
A) 1 year specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 grade level. Must have fundamental working experiences with a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the audit occupational series and grade.
(MUST address these experiences in detail on resume to be considered for this grade/position.)
OR
B) 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
(MUST provide copies of all relevant transcripts to be considered for this position. Official transcripts may be required at a later date.)
OR
C) A combination of Specialized experience and Education equal to 100% of the requirements.
(MUST provide copies of all relevant transcripts to be considered for this position. Official transcripts may be required at a later date.)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GS-11:
Must possess one of the following:
A) 1 year specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 grade level. Must have fundamental working experiences with a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the audit occupational series and grade.
(MUST address these experiences in detail on resume to be considered for this grade/position.)
OR
B) 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
(MUST provide copies of all relevant transcripts to be considered for this position. Official transcripts may be required at a later date.)
OR
C) A combination of Specialized experience and Education equal to 100% of the requirements.
(MUST provide copies of all relevant transcripts to be considered for this position. Official transcripts may be required at a later date.)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-12:
Must possess 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level which provided fundamental working experiences with a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the audit occupational series and grade.
(No substitution of education for GS-12 Specialized Experience)
Education
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Must have a degree in auditing or in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
