Automation Design Engineer

Malin is looking for aMaterial Handling Project Engineerthat will be responsible for all design aspects of supply chain, distribution, warehousing and manufacturing automation.

Our Project Engineers work closely with our professional sales and CAD teams to oversee the design, costing, scheduling and implementation of the systems while maintaining Malin's reputation, integrity and customer-first approach.

Essential Functions:

* Develop automation design concepts based on customer requirements and help obtain customer approval

* Vendor selection based on quality of product and cost; provides extensive guidance during the design process.

* Stay current in the material handling industry and evaluate new concepts for Malin's customers.

* Develop key strategic partnerships with suppliers of material handling equipment and controls software.

* Make periodic site visits to review project progress and report to management as necessary.

* Participation in system commissioning and project acceptance.

Education and Experience:

* 5-10 or more years of experience in warehouse automation, conveyor systems or industrial engineering

* Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and other standard engineering applications

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field of study is a plus

* Control software and electrical wiring experience a plus

General:

* Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

* Excellent time-management and communication skills

* Ability to earn client trust with strong interpersonal skills

* Willingness to travel nationwide and internally up to 50%

* Ability to read and interpret customer communications, spec reports, and common documents;

* Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community;

* Ability to develop presentations via phone or in person that conform to prescribed style and format.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to drive an automobile and travel using public transportation including airlines.

* Occasional bending and lifting of up to 25lbs.
