Automation Engineer
Job Description
This is an Automation Engineer opportunity to join a collaborative team within a fast-growing company. This position will use a combination of software and systems engineering principles to build cloud-based, high-performance systems that are scalable and resilient. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and deploying infrastructure to support various teams and projects. You will work closely with the software engineering and operations teams to design, implement and test solutions for current and future products, and work with the product, QA teams and performance engineers to automate testing, improve performance and enhance monitoring and reporting. The engineer will identify opportunities to migrate legacy technologies and solutions to more efficient and automated platforms.

What you'll be doing:
- Design, develop and deliver cloud infrastructure through automation.
- Participate in the provisioning, deployment and troubleshooting of First Orion applications, products and services
- Provide development and testing support; troubleshoot and debug issues
- Design and develop and automate applications, enabling secure, high performance, fault tolerant data exchange
- Design, implement, and test software features of First Orion products
- Contribute to advancing reliability and performance of the mobile, service and network architecture; introduce new performance counters and instrumentation points
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study
- Strong knowledge of AWS-based solution creation and related experience
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as code and experience with TerraForm, yaml or Ansible
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of C#, Java or other OO language
- Knowledge of a modern scripting language, such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby or Go
- Knowledge of CI/CD/CT pipeline implementation and maintenance
- Knowledge of SQL database development, querying data, handling data, creating and designing data schemas or solutions
Bonus Points:
- Prior experience in telephony and communication industry
- Development experience with high-performance low-latency fault-tolerant systems
- Experience with container technology such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Knowledge of best practices for creating efficiently performing SQL code
- Linux administration skills and bash scripting
