Title: Automation Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL; Des Moines, IA; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD or Remote
As an Automation Engineer at Sammons Financial Group, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our operational efficiency and product quality through the design, development, and implementation of automated solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation, create robust testing frameworks, and deploy cutting-edge technologies to drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Develop Automated Solutions:
- Develop, implement, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for various applications, systems, and processes.
- Utilize industry-standard tools and technologies to build scalable and reliable automation solutions.
- Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams:
- Work closely with software developers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and requirements.
- Participate in project planning and provide technical expertise on automation best practices.
- Continuous Process Improvement:
- Evaluate existing processes and workflows to identify areas for automation, efficiency gains, and optimization.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
- Quality Assurance and Testing:
- Conduct thorough testing of automated solutions to ensure they meet defined criteria for accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Analyze test results, report defects, and work collaboratively with development teams to resolve issues.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Create detailed documentation including technical specifications, test plans, and reports.
- Provide regular status updates on automation progress, challenges, and successes.
- Stay Current with Automation Trends:
- Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Share knowledge and contribute to the continuous learning culture within the team.
Qualifications:
- College Degree in the field of computer science, engineering, information science, management information systems preferred
- Minimum 8 years' IT development experience or equivalent preferred
- Proven experience in automation engineering, including designing and implementing automation frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#).
- Strong familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Jenkins).
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- $78,672 - $163,899 - Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Certifications in automation testing or related fields are a plus.
- Knowledge of Life Insurance and/or certifications.
