The Automation Engineer requires advanced learning; technical precision; and consistent use of independent judgment and discretion. Automation Engineers design, develop, program, test and support automated manufacturing equipment, vision systems, and custom equipment used in Industrial manufacturing and packaging operations. The Automation Engineer will participate as a professional engineering team member on projects with responsibility for equipment design, programming, start-up, and validation for high-speed automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.

Hybrid/On-site in Fremont, CA -- Resource must be local, no travel.

3rd Shift, 12-hour days 4 days/week on call support

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and developing automated equipment with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's) working from project timelines and customer requirements.
  • Owning and managing development, design, and programming of equipment deliverables to ensure consistent, effective design and implementation.
  • Provide on call technical support through automated systems (Maximo Application for generating and closing work orders to make changes to DeltaV Production).
  • Monitor the performance of the automation systems and work to improve their efficiency and effectiveness by trouble shooting issues with production systems used for Manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Gather and analyze engineering and manufacturing feedback to identify areas for improvement in the automation systems.
  • Providing engineering level support and guidance in start-up and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
  • Developing and executing automation-based test scripts to verify equipment is working properly and to specifications, including FDA and ISPE guidelines for validation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Scientific degree
  • 2+ years data integrity, automation and validation experience.
  • Experience with safety, GMPs and FDA regulated environment.
  • Maximo Application or similar CMMS system experience ServiceNow, HxGN EAM (formerly Infor EAM), Blue Mountain RAM or generating and closing work orders to make changes to DeltaV Production
  • Programming -Visual Basic
  • PLC programming
  • Validation and commissioning experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Exposure to FDA regulated environments including validation experience.
