The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Automation Engineering Intern to work as a member of our Manufacturing team at a 24/7 production facility. The intern will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks - including hands-on analysis of waste, analysis of results utilizing statistical methodologies, and equipment upkeep. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from an experienced multi-disciplinary team and to make significant contributions to human health through in vitro diagnostics.

This is an onsite internship at our Rochester, NY site.

The Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and provide solutions to reduce product waste on Slide Assembly Machines Packaging machines
  • Assist in execution of validation test procedures for new equipment
  • Utilize statistical tools to analyze experimental data.
  • Communicate experimental results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Set-up, de-bug, and maintain critical laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through the proactive identification of hazards and risks.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Job Deliverables

  • The intern will present a poster and PowerPoint presentation on his/her work to a cross-functional group.

The Individual

Required:

  • Third or fourth year undergraduate student in Mechatronics or related field
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Qualified candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate program and will have completed their first year of the program prior to the start of the internship.
  • Ability to accept employment without sponsorship.
  • Motivation, intellect, and curiosity with a keen interest in improving human health.
  • Experience with inventory order systems.
  • Basic experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to manage one's own time independently.
  • Interns should be prepared to fully commit to the start and end dates of on or about May 22 through August 18, 2023.
  • Interns are expected to provide their own housing, travel, and any other requirements necessary for their participation in this program.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to part inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of computer scripting.

The pay range for the Internship Program is between $16/hour to $30/hour. The Pay rate will be determined by the year in school, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate. Benefits are not included for this position.
